...ride his bike!!!!!!!!!!!! We bought this bike at least 3 years ago, and we had tried so many times to get him to ride it. I seriously thought it would never happen!!
So, why is this a big deal? I know many autistic kids who have difficulty learning to ride, but I blame his Chiari Malformation for the real difficulties with it. This is the herniation (drooping) of the cerebellar tonsils in the lower back of the brain. It can result in so many things, including balance difficulty and language issues. He actually has less trouble with it than most, but this has been such an ordeal. He even tried to use training wheels until a couple of years ago! We bought the bike about 3 years ago, and I had about given up hope that he would ever learn to ride it. Never say "never"--EVER!! :)
LIZARD, one very proud mom! :)
