Well went into my checkup today, and I lost 4 lbs...and was measuring even smaller than last week..(I knew baby had dropped some!!) Anyway, Dr. was concerned because of the 2 cord vessel thing which was discovered at my first u/s (can cause IUGR b/c of lack of the extra vessel for nourishment and nutrition) that baby was going to fall off curve. Anyway, she sent me upstairs to do a u/s after my NST (which I have had one every week for a month to monitor baby I guess?) Baby had indeed fallen off of curve and was measuring 2-3 weeks behind. When she did the check though, I was 3 cm and baby had begun to descend already. She thinks that I will have him this weekend, but if not, they are doing an induction on Wednesday morning because of his size which he he is measuring at 5 lbs 6 oz and Mikaela was only 1 oz more than that and was born exactly as far along as I am now.... He is not getting enough nourishment anymore through the umbilical cord so at this point it is considered safer for him to be outside the womb than in so that he can gain nourishment because once he is no longer in need of an umbilical cord there is no longer a problem b/c he can feed through b/f or bottle etc. Anyway, by this time next week, I will have my baby boy. Also, Dr. says she thinks that I will probably have a relatively short labor due to my description of this past week and my last pregnancy. She thinks it will only be about 3-4 hours long since I have been 'laboring' all ready just not into 'active' labor yet. I am excited for a deadline but of course nervous of how everything will go and just scared of anything I can't control like labor being painful...or baby being in distress etc. I had a very good labor & delivery experience last time so hopefully I can have a repeat! Mikaela's biggest problem was jaundice so hopefully won't have to deal with anything besides that this time around. Wish me luck ladies!
