Jesus said we are no longer supposed to go by the 'eye for an eye' mentality. How can any Christian think that it is okay?
I DO believe in the death penalty, I happen to think it's a very righteous thing to do. It rids society of evil not allowing criminals to repeat their crimes. That's actually merciful.
I don't believe in molly coddling criminals. Especially when they HAVE been proven guilty. With DNA and all the technology we have today, it's very rare that anyone is falsely accused.

The fact is that what you are saying and your avatar is ironic. I don't know who you are or why are hateful but I really don't want to hear from you. I thought you were the lady that came back and apologized for representing Christ in such a horrible way but I guess it was someone else.
Zenja is taking the same stance as you but she isn't being so ugly with her words. That shows class.
They are not at all Biblically based. Neither is being a "Christian Liberal" Biblically based. Supporting abortion and homosexuality definitely aren't Biblical.

I didn't delete it...I corrected a typo. I copied the exact words I typed before and I was just about to ask you what you're talking about??? I didn't say "but I..."
Would Jesus condone this? I am sorry, I can't say he would.
I'd rather stand up for what's right than "show class." I don't have anyone to impress. I find being a "Christian liberal" ironic as well ;D So wherefore then do we differ?
Thank you for your kind words Rebeccalynn. Like I said, I knew that most would disagree with what I think, but you asked for our thoughts and those are honestly mine.
I wish that we could just have actual discussions about the isuues without them deteriorating into name calling and ugliness. The whole issue gets forgotten, and we thus lose another opportunity for the free flow of ideas, and maybe actually learning something.

I am actually not speaking about revenge, I was speaking about preventing the school from being blown up. I wasn't talking about waterboarding him to get back at him.
I knew that many would disagree. Guess that is what makes the world go round. Thank God for His grace!
I know you were speaking of preventing an act of violence, not revenge. I understand that. My comment about revenge wasn't really directed at you. It was more of a general statement because those who advocate torture think that it is justified because of 9/11. That is revenge. The Lord says that vengeance is his alone. I know that doesn't square up with our human nature, when someone hurts us or those who are part of us, we want to seek revenge on them, but God tells us that we are to love our enemies.Want to leave a comment and join the discussion?
