He hasn't ended the war in Iraq....in fact, his rhetoric is strangely identical to Bush's.
He is grabbing power that is not lawfully his--where have we seen that before?
His deficit spending is even worse than Bush's--our children and grandchildren will have to work into their 80's (or longer) to pay off the debt these criminal presidents are incurring.
Now, he's talking about "prolonged detention". Watch this video, and keep in mind the recent Department of Homeland Security documents referring to most people who hold "conservative" values as potential domestic terrorists.
We're in serious trouble, folks....
NOTE to Obama supporters: I understand your perceived need to defend your hero, but I would most appreciate it if you would keep your comments relevant to this post. I've already heard plenty of the standard banalities from those who would most likely support Obama no matter what he does. For those who are capable of objective and independent thought, I'd like to know your thoughts on what Obama himself actually said in his speech in the National Archive. Can you really defend what he's wanting to do? If you don't like Rachel Maddow or MSNBC, the full transcript of the speech is available here (CNN Politics).
Comments:
I think i'ts funny (or would be if it weren't so damn scary--and sad) how people are STILL feebly trying to defend Obama after watching what he's done since taking office. Did you even WATCH this video? Did you hear what came out of Obama's own mouth??? How can you defend this man?
If you're asking for examples of "power grabbing", then it's obvious that you didn't even watch this video. You just showed up to defend your hero, and are probably immune to any rational, logical argument that the man is a criminal, who wants to bend the laws of this country to fit his agenda (Bush must have taught him well!). You'll probably blindly support anything he'll ever do.
Oh, and you don't know me, or my views on Gitmo, so don't ASSume that I want ANYONE detained without due process.
Yes, the war could have easily been ended on day one. He doesn't even need Congress' permission to do it. The fact is, Obama is working for the same interests that Bush worked for. The only difference is, more people like Obama, therefore are more likely to blindly support whatever he does.
And, there is obviously a LOT of blind people in this country. I'm sure there will be more comments from them right here on this journal.
First off, I didn't vote for him and he's not my hero, but he's now my President and I owe him my allegiance. I love and served my country and it's people like you who always look and dwell on the negative that are going to be it's downfall.
I happen to think he's on the right track and therefore, the very things you are complaining about being his 'agenda' are the very things I think need to be done in the US. It's time we stopped being so arrogant, and realize the way things have gone in the past are not working and things DO need to change.
IMO, YOU and people like you are not only blind, but too stubborn and frightened to want to change for the better.
First off, I didn't vote for him and he's not my hero, but he's now my President and I owe him my allegiance.
You can bow down to him if you want, but for me, respect is earned. The office is only as respectable as the lowest oaf who plants his butt in the chair. Bill Clinton? Richard Nixon? Millard Fillmore? How about George W. Bush, for crying out loud??? If you were a German in the 30's, would you have owed your "allegience" to Hitler, too?
I love and served my country
I served 10 years--four active duty, and six more as a spouse. I took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, and I am still honoring that oath by fighting the enemies of the Constitution--or anyone else who would bend it to fit his agenda (such as Bush and Obama).
and it's people like you who always look and dwell on the negative that are going to be it's downfall.
"People like me", huh? I guess you'd hold the Founding Fathers in the same contempt. You would have been a Loyalist who kissed the rear of King George.
I happen to think he's on the right track and therefore, the very things you are complaining about being his 'agenda' are the very things I think need to be done in the US.
So it's okay to lock people up for years, with NO charges, NO due process, and without even having committed a crime? It's okay for the government to sell us all into slavery with its deficit spending? EIther you have no clue what you're supporting, or you are seriously tweaked. EIther way, it's scary to think that people like you vote.
It's time we stopped being so arrogant, and realize the way things have gone in the past are not working and things DO need to chang.
WHAT CHANGE???? All I see is the continuation of GWB's policies!!! There's just a new salesman who can talk a smoother talk (when he's got a teleprompter).
IMO, YOU and people like you are not only blind, but too stubborn and frightened to want to change for the better
If you think things are really changing for the better, then there's not much I can do for you. You either need to get educated, or see a good therapist. Good luck with either venture, and thanks for your comments! :)
I'm not an MSNBC or a FOX News chick.
I'll stick to the TRUTHFUL news reports of CNN and Headline News.
Thank you.
I do find it odd that people who were completely against GWB's polices are fine with BO's, when they seem exactly the same, or worse. They didn't like the deficit under GWB, but are fine with it tripling under BO. They didn't like the timetable for pulling out of Iraq with GWB, but BO offers the exact same timetable, and it's considered "prudent". It's just kinda weird, IMO. *shrug*
Absolutely! This man is actually working for the American people. Even his weekends are shared between family time and his job. Finally--competence and the balls to made difficult decisions and not follow the misleading and tainted information puppet Bush did.
We wouldn't be in this mess if the idiots who voted Bush in the second time (he stole the first the stinking weasle) had exercised their brains rather then their penchant for jumping to conclusions.
It has been mere months and he has 8 years to clean up. Did you think there would be a magic wand waved on Jan 21 and all would be right with the world? And you call those who support the president blind...
Oops, watch out--don't want you to trip over yourself in your attempt to discredit the man who clearly is the best for the job.
For all of you Obama supporters that keep saying "change doesn't happen overnight" How long do you suggest we wait? Until his term is over? We should have, at least, seen SOME improvements.
He gave us change alright.. In exchange for our dollars!
Another thought.. Obama wants to "borrow" another 500 BILLION dollars from China, so that "our country" can put 500 BILLION dollars into the International Money Fund....
Uhm... Yay for more debt? *sarcasm*

You act as if the war could be ended the day after the man took office. Give it time... you can't just pull everyone out in one day.
Please give examples of him 'grabbing power' because i have no idea what you're talking about.
I find it funny that the same people who are for keeping the Gitmo prisoners locked up without a fair trial are the same ones having a fit over this Detention thing. It's okay to keep those people locked up, but God forbid we take Americans who might be a threat and do the same?
Talk about a double standard.
