Lucy , a disturbing example of Animal Cruelty. **WARNING, EXTREMELY GRAPHIC PHOTOS!!!**

I got a new foster puppy last night . Her name is Lucy. She is sweet, she is charming, she is precious and adorable like any 4 month old puppy is. She is also in agony , distress, frightened, and sick. She is full of oozing festering skin, scabs, infection, inflammation, itching, and she is in terrible pain. She has something called Demodactic Mange. ( For those that dont know mange is a microscopic mite that lives under the skin of animals and causes fur loss, scabbing , skin infection and inflamation of a dogs skin. In its early stages it is easily treated.) Her owners didnt care to get her medical treatment , so her case of mange went from something easy to fix and control to an out of control mess that could have, without human intervention KILLED HER. She has hardly any fur left, what is there is a lovely red color, she is full of inflamed skin that itches uncontrollably , peels, bleeds, and therefore gets infected. She is a walking WOUND. She requires tons of care, from special baths, to oral medications to control infection and inflamation, to topical creams to help with pain and promote healing. She smells dreadful. Lucy however is wonderful about her treatment, she is calm , she is accepting, she tolerates a great amount of pain and discomfort without so much as a wimper. She has not growled , she has not snapped, she has not ONCE acted negatively while undergoing her grueling treatments. She LICKS us while we are applying her creams and bathing her. She cuddles next to you and wants you to pet the few spots on her that arent itching, festering , bleeding or oozing. She is loving towards my family including my kids, and she even will lick me while I am giving her an injection with a needle.
Here is what you dont know. Lucy is an AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER. So much for the image of a tough mean dog that has been abused. Lucy , despite what humans have made her endure, still loves , trusts and wants HUMAN CONTACT. She is just a baby that wants people to love her, even as sick as she is , and trust me she is a VERY sick dog, and has every reason to be aggressive , to be nasty and to try things like nipping, she doesent even have it in her beautiful head. It will take almost a YEAR for Lucy to be fully well and to regrow her hair. It will be lots of work on my rescues part, we will invest a ton of money into getting her well, but to us she is 1000% worth it. Lucy has only been in my life for a day , but she has touched me in a way that no other foster dog has. Knowing what she at her young age has endured, disgusts me. It makes me so angry that all this beautiful puppy has endured during her short life is pain and agony. It makes me want to strangle the humans involved with making her suffer. It makes me wonder if the people involed with causing Lucy to become so sick have children , because of they allow an animal to suffer so greatly , what in hell are they doing to their kids? I know some people will probably say "So What Shes just a DOG," but she suffers like we humans do , she feels pain , she feels hurt, and I cannot FATHOM why any HUMAN with a SOUL , could not feel disturbed by what Lucy has endured. The horrible thing? Lucy is only one of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, of animals that suffer this kind of cruelty, neglect and pain each year. Lucy is lucky, she was saved , she is being treated, and she will get better with care, a lot of Lucys fellow animals arent so lucky.

AWWWW!!! The poor baby!! I am so sorry she has to go through this but with your help and the kids she will get better. Kudos to you Katie..you are a wonderful loving person and so are your kids. The poor sweet dog is in a much better place where she can be loved and cared for the way she deserves to be treated!! Again..kudos to you and the kids! 
Poor Sweetie! I am not a fan of pit bulls, but I don't have nothing against them either. No dog deserves that. And she must have a heart of gold to be so sweet after going through so much. You are a wonderful woman to open your heart and your home to these animals. Your an angel in disguise.
Poor dog it looksso sweet,I dont see how anyone could do this to a puppy no matter what breed it is,she is lucky to have you looking over her,the ppl who did this to her should be suffering like she is.
That poor baby. How the hell can people be so cruel to that sweet looking baby girl. I wish I could cuddle with her. She is very lucky to have such loving people around her now.
How FREAKING cute! My oldest dog had that mange stuff, and we had it fixed in no time... Idk how someone can let it get that crazy! I want her Katie!!! She's so sweet and cuddly looking!

POOR SWEET BABY!!!! Thank God she is with you and is now safe and cared for! You must post pics when she is finally healed.......KUDOS to you to take her on and care for her...not many would do that.....and that's sad.
