Last September I decided to make a "leap of Faith" as I call it, and become Catholic. My husband is Catholic and we were married in the Catholic church 11 years ago. Never once has he tried to get me to become Catholic. He even tried attending his Grandfather's church, which was Presbyterian just to please me.
Something just wasn't right. We started missing church more and more. I just seemed like a chore to get up and get ready for church. My heart wasn't in it. I felt guilty, but I also couldn't focus on the sermon for some reason. Something had to be done.
I told my husband I was willing to give the Catholic church a try. After attending a few masses, I was sure that's where I wanted to be. I enrolled in the RCIA process and away I went!
Let me tell you, I have never been happier. I have never felt closer to God than I do now, and you know what? I have only missed Mass once since September, and that was because a family member called and needed my hubby's help with something! I have willingly and excitedly attended the Holy Days of Obligation and Stations of the Cross during Lent.
Here are some pictures from my Confirmation.
Here I am being Baptized. That is Father Joe, me, my hubby Mike, my cousin Amanda and if you look close, you can see Amanda's Mom. She did all of the readings that night! I remember feeling excited...all my sins washed away with the water of Baptism...what a wonderful feeling!
This is the Confirmation part of the ceremony. I was anointed with oil and I confirmed my faith.
For Catholic Baptism, you usually have Godparents. Mine we called "sponsors" and they were two people very dear to me. My cousin's wife Amanda and my hubby. Just look at my darling son! He just couldn't resist goofing around, even in church!
This is my hubby, me and Father Joe. Father Joe is just wonderful! When I approached him about this journey, he never once doubted my intentions, he never hesitated, he sent me to the right person ( another great friend I met along the way named Lou) and I went from there!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I want to send out a very special thank you to CafeMom Kajenloca. Through this whole process, she has sent me notes of well wishes, hugs, prayers and encouragement. Through this site, it was almost like she was with me every step of the way, and she has very patiently been waiting for these photos! Thanks Kajenloca!
