That's right, I said it.  I can't stand what Ikea has done to home fashion.  I think the mod, minimalist look is horrible.  I don't want everything in my house plain, square, dull, and looking exactly like my neighboor's.  I want my home to be ornate and unique.   I want beautiful and interesting.

And the colors, ugh don't even get me started.  What's with the olive, orange, and chocolate combo's?  What artistic genius came up with that idea?  I mean, by themselves they're fine colors.  But together its about the ugliest you can get.  Why is such a horrible color scheme so popular when there are such beautiful combo's like lavender and sage, or gold, burgundy, and royal blue?

I also don't understand the trend of collecting dead things in a jar.  Why is it attractive to have bowl full of dry sticks, wooden balls, and those weird things that look like old, dead, honeycombs?  Wouldn't you rather have living plants in your house?

I don't care if 99% of the world wants to live in ugly homes.  That's your business.  But this horrible fad is so big that I can't find anything nice for my house.

Its even worse here where we live in Germany.  You will see these gorgeous, ornate, medieval buildings, only to walk inside and find a bunch of disappointingly modern furniture staring you in the face.  Even my OBGYN has decorated her office with Ikeaish furniture.  This, I have a huge problem with.  I really don't want to squeeze my enormous, pregnant ass into a tiny little chair with no cushion or back support.

Now from reading this, you might think I'm some old lady who doesn't know a thing about fashion.  Well, its quite the opposite.  I'm young and have a great love for fashion.  And usually, I can see ahead when a trend is about to appear.  So get ready to throw away your sticks and cheap chairs ladies,  because I will take down Ikea single handily if the need be.

LOL...I couldn't agree more!  Every house or place of business I go into that is decorated in that style just seems so....cold.  Not inviting at all!  Boo to Ikea!!

I agree! I do not like that minimalistic/modern look either. It is so cold and uninviting and not the least bit comfortable. The total opposite of my personality.

With the exception of loving olive, orange and chocolate together (retro freak here) I totally agree.  I've never liked much of Ikea's stuff.

You're right, that style is plain and boring. I prefer rich, dark colors and more of an asian/african style myself. I only go for their candles and pear sparkling cider during the holidays....

I agree! I hate the furniture in Ikea. I swear, it looks like the 70's threw up!
