We live in the country, on a farm. Stupid people think it makes sense to bring their unwanted cats out here and dump them. Apparently, taking a housecat and ditching it in the country isn't a completely jerky thing to do and these cats can survive just fine without things like food, water, shelter and veterinary care. Pffftttt. Because of this, we end up with a lot of strays running around the neighborhood.

We currently have a really cute little girl kitty hanging around our house. My oldest has convinced his brother and sister that the reason they should never pet any unknown cat is because that cat could have rabies. Being 5 and 3, brother and sister have no clue what "rabies" means.

Cut to about an hour ago. Big thunderstorm rolling through our area. Unidentified meowing started coming from somewhere in the vicinity of the front porch. I went outside to investigate. Norah followed me. Stray of the Week came up on the porch looking for some attention (and probably some food, too). Norah lost her mind.

"Mommy, DON'T TOUCH HER!"

"Why Norah?"

"Because Jacob said not to ever pet her!"

"Oh really? Why?"

"Jacob said not to ever touch that kitty because...because..."

"Because why?"

"Because she has..." she searched for the right word. "Because she has gravies!"

Mmmm...gravies kitty. It's what's for dinner.
