I"m fairly sure I've ranted about this before but I'm gonna do it again just to be sure. Why do parents sign their kid up to participate in a team sport only to not make that kid available for games and practices?! It's even worse when they finally do show up and they're so late the whole team has already suffered because one irresponsible parent couldn't get their kid to the game on time. I understand their are circumstances that come up that may cause a kid to be late or even miss a game or practice, but I'm talking about consistently late and never or rarely coming to a practice. If you're going to sign your kid up for a team sport, please be courteous to the other members and make your kid available for all games and practices. If you can't get your kid there, call another teammate and see if your kid can get a ride, or at least call the coach and let them know why the kid can't be there. It's unfair to the kids that show up when they have to forfeit a game because your kid is late again or just can't make it. The sad part is it's not the kids fault, it's the parents. So if you can't find a way to honor the commitment you made, don't sign your kid up, its unfair to everyone else.

You read my mind!! I feel this way about all extracurricular activities, oh and kindergarten. I mean really, send your kid to school on time even if you think kindergarten isn't that big of a deal. It teaches the kids at an early age about the importance of being on time. Later those tardies will bite them in the ass! LOL We've had some major issues with my son's team this year as well. We had one practice before our first game. One!! Granted it rained out a couple but he called one practice 2 hours before it was supposed to start but it wasn't even raining...it did not rain another drop until after the practice would have ended and the field wasn't even muddy. To top that off, he hasn't even scheduled another practice since then...because the fields are taken up now with games. Well hello! Can we not practice in grass somewhere? There's a ton of parks and yards we could do it. He just doesn't have his mind on the team and it pisses me off. I said I would help coach but I can only do so much when I've got air heads over me and parents who think they are God's gift to society. Oh and another thing, the coach was on his cell phone 8 times during the first ball game...while on the field!! Geez. BTW, thanks for posting your journal. It's really helped me blow off some steam, LOL!
