Ok, I know that I would be very embarrassed to spell things wrong. I do, in fact, get stuff wrong and feel really silly for it later.
I know some say they don't care--but I am sure there is a little defensiveness in it. Without being bitchy, I am going to offer some suggestions for spelling and grammar. I will start with my pet peeves.
Next week? Accept and Except, Idea and Ideal, Its and It's, and Then and Than. The last installment will be common acronym redundancies like ATM Machine and HIV Virus! ;)
I know, who cares? I do. We are parents, we need to be able to help our children be successful. I am not saying this as a bitchy thing, I think some of us just never learned. I used to have the hardest time with your and you're...now I don't! ;)
And don't say you don't have enough time to use proper grammar and spelling...it takes just as long to spell properly as it does to spell poorly! (Typos I get, I have four kids myself and I don't always have my mind in the right place) Plus, exercising the mind is a good way to keep your mind young. Learn something new today--it couldn't hurt!
Their, There, They're
- Their
= possessive pronoun: They got their books.
- There
= that place: My house is over there.
(This is a place word, and so it contains the word here.)
- They're = contraction for they are: They're making dinner. (Pronouns have apostrophes only when two words are being shortened into one.)
To, Too, Two
- To
= preposition, or first part of the infinitive form of a verb: They went
to the lake to
swim.
- Too
= very, also: I was too tired to continue.
I was hungry, too.
- Two = the number 2: Two students scored below passing on the exam.
Two, twelve, and between are all words related to the number 2, and all contain
the letters tw.
Too can mean also or can be an intensifier, and you might say that it contains
an extra o ("one too many")
We're, Where, Were
- We're = contraction for we are: We're glad to help. (Pronouns have apostrophes only when two words are being shortened into one.)
- Where
= location: Where are you going? (This
is a place word, and so it contains the word here.)
- Were = a past tense form of the verb be: They were walking side by side.
Your, You're
- Your
= possessive pronoun: Your shoes are untied.
- You're = contraction for you are: You're walking around with your shoes untied. (Pronouns have apostrophes only when two words are being shortened into one.)

Thank You! Hope everyone views this! Can't wait to see next week's grammar lesson!
OMG like wat is ur problem? Grammar is fur inglush teachurs n stuff.
Just kidding!
In all honesty, though, it does grate on my nerves when people treat web forums as though they're an excuse to use terrible spelling and grammar. The occasional typo is one thing, but the atrocious spelling and grammar you run into online is in a different category altogether.
Remember, I don't mean this in a rude way. I could get all bitchy and make fun of women (like I have before), but decided to take the high road and educate ;)
But they won't I think! I am being sincere. I guess if they wanted to learn they would have. I guess I am trying to save the grammar world! LOL
My daughter always says I need to be an English teacher.
