I have to admit the Creation Story in the Bible fascinates me, and the Creation of Adam and Eve even more so. As the story goes, Adam was formed from the dust of the earth but Eve was created from Adam’s rib.
Don’t worry, this isn’t going to turn into a church meeting and I’m not going to take up a collection or anything like that. I am very well aware of The ONE Who Created All. For sake of explanation, most of my life I was taught to call this Magnificent Enigma, God, but as I matured in life I learned that Mankind as a whole has made gods of many different things, ideas, forces of nature, people and so on. Even the sex is also called into question. Then I learned there is a formal name for The Almighty but it seems no one really knows how to pronounce it properly or decide which spelling is the right one. That can be a bit aggravating at times. Even we mere mortals do not like it very much when our names are misspelled or misrepresented in some way. Depending on the nationality, these issues take on their own different flavors. These debates and many others in this area have been going on for millennia upon millennia and I dare say, it seems like it will continue. So for my peace in mind, body and soul, I choose to refer to this Grand Enigma as The ONE Who Created All. This is my choice, and I do respect YOUR choice in YOUR view and YOUR choice of name of The ONE Who Created All.
Anyway, back to Adam and Eve.
As I was saying, Eve was created from Adam’s rib making her the first flesh born human being. Adam did say, roughly, ‘At last, bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh’. Her being “of the flesh” would make sense that The Woman would also have the great honor of carrying and giving birth to every human being from that point on.
I also find it very interesting, out of all the bones in the body, the rib was chosen. The leg bones along with their muscles carry the human frame from one point to another, they aid the body in strength in moving things and they are the primary aid in the bodies fitness. The arm bones and their muscles move and manipulate things all over the place. The spine and neck bones help support the body, are a primary freeway for our nervous system and supports the head. The scull houses our brain, gives a bed for our eyes and support of our mouth.
But the rib bones. Even though they are bones like the rest of the bones in our body, they have differences, they help the body in so many different ways. First, much like the other bones, they are pliable and strong, when they brake they heal and mend, they are an anchor for muscle and they help support the whole frame of the body. But unlike the other bones of the body, each one has a natural beautiful curve to it, they are articulated in pairs and are attached to the spine, making them even more flexible. They give shape and help hold, support and protects the thoracic cavity and many major vital organ for the support of life of the body, the heart being one of them. Isn’t it interesting, the rib bone is the ONLY bone that protects the heart.
No wonder The ONE Who Created All said of the Woman, She is a Helper, a Complement (that’s with an “e”, not an “i”). Like the rib, The Woman has such strength and flexibility, she naturally protects, she helps support and because the rib is closest to the heart, the muscle we assign love to, she loves deeply. Maybe that is the reason why no where in the Bible does it command the Woman to love but the Man is commanded directly several times to show and to have love. Like the rib, the Woman is very unique and very special.
Peace and Blessings to You and Yours
