I recently took in a rescued Connemara/TB Cross filly. She is 5 years old and had been living on a pasture in the woods in Michigan. in April she came out of the woods and went into training for a week before she injured herself- it was a cut on her hack leg- but just skin- nothing past the facia was damaged) they sutured it up to prevent scaring- but then they put her on stall rest for 3 weeks never letting her out or hand walking her- she didnt have her feet trimmed, and was not groomed. They say that she recieved grain- but she is about 100-150 lbs underweight. I immediately took her in, trimmed her feet, cleaned her up, am feeding her the groceries she needs, and have been working on getting her into condition.
Her name is Brie, and she stands at about 14.1. Has great ground manners, as far as under saddle work I am told that she has walk, trotted, and cantered about 3-4 times but that is all. I have personally saddled and bridled her up and leaned over the saddle with no issues, but did not want to get on her just yet because her feet are sore from the drastic trimming. I will be getting her working under saddle this week - but i am falling in love with this mare, and want her to find a great hunter jumper/dressage, or pony club home. I am hoping that you may be able to forward this to others.
Last fall she was appraised at 10,500 but because she does need some work before she is showable- AND because I want her to go to a good home, I am just asking for reimbursement of my expenses- which at the moment is 1,000.
I can be reached at 262-457-4907
She is stabled at Mistee Oaks in Bristol, WI
