I don't know what has been going on with me lately, but I have just not been myself! I am getting aggravated much quicker (just an overall bad temperament, which is SO unlike me)...I'm tired alot more frequently than before...
I've been working on school just about non stop...every day it's a paper (if it's a 5 pager) or two (2-3 pages each)....study, research, compile, write, turn in. Every day. By the time I'm done, it's time to do dinner and I want the kids in bed ASAP. My brain hurts....I just want to relax. I haven't been able to get in my garden much, do housework, truly bake...nothing. UGH.
So, I decided that I needed to chill out. I only did one paper today. It was 2 pages. I got done at noon and went and played with the girls outside. I walked into the garded and saw my first zucchini was ready to be picked!!! It was 9 inches long and was about a pound! (I've got 7 more almost ready & many more buds)....
Happy began to come back. There was my zucchini. I rinsed it off and placed it in the frig for later. I took Alli to get her jazz shoes for Monday's dance class. She's in the compitition team...BUT, the man said they only make jazz shoes in sizes 12 and up...Alli is a size 9. So, we will have to see what her teacher says on Monday.
As we walked through the store I picked up some bananas. Nuts. milk. Other things that were needed. I found the store relaxing....I really do enjoy wandering down the aisles of a store, talking to the girls about foods, colors, numbers. Not rushed in and out.
We got home and I decided I was going to use my zucchini in a quick bread. I called Alli into the kitchen (who was bummed about her shoes) and I said "You know what makes mommy happy?"......."Baking. you wanna help me make some banana zucchini bread?". She said yes and eagerly helped me measure, pour, stir. She even shredded the zucchini. which was so big we only needed 3/4 of it! The three of us split the rest as a mid-afternoon snack, haahaa, nothing better than fresh from the garden zucchini, let me tell you!
So, now I am happy. It was a nice day. And the house smells of my banana zucchini bread, which tastes even better than it looks. Later when it gets cooler, I'm going into my garden for a good hour to cultivate, water and chill out.
So....when all else fails, and I'm grumpy....I bake.
