Hey ladies. I have a very urgent request. My dad has had a stomach ache for 1 week today. It was bad enough that he agreed to go to the Dr. Saturday. The Dr. thought he had a pretty severe case of diverticulitis so he sent him to the hospital for a CT scan. Well, it is not diverticulitis. He has pancreatic cancer, stage 4, and it has spread. His lungs, abdomen and lymph nodes. The tumor on his pancreas is blocking the blood flow to his spleen and kidneys.

They have told us surgery will not do any good.  Yesterday the oncologist came in and talked with us about treatment, chemo and radiation. He said at this stage it is more for pain management and maybe a little more time but not much. So Daddy chose not to go that route. He said at the most it might give him a month or two longer and what is that compared to 76 years of wonderful life.

We are a Christian family. He says he is ready to go and  he is taking all of this much better than the rest of us. We need your prayers please. Oh! I forgot this part the hospital is going to contact hospice today. I need more of God's grace than I have ever needed. I don't know how to do this and I am so scared. One day I will post what a great man he is.

Thanks ladies!

I've been there done that, and while it sounds incredibly scarey having Hospice involved should help you immensely!! Talk to them and they will prepare you and hopefully help you with processing the feelings your going through right now.  *hugs*

Hospice is excellent.  You can depend on them for anything.  Don't hesitate to use their services.   I am sorry to hear about your dad.
