So I'm back in my NY apartment and after a few dismal rain days, the weekend was perfect spring/summer weather-so I abandoned work in favor of shlepping a portable chair, large towel, food and water to the park, for a sunny afternoon lounge and read newspapers. Central Park was filled with bikers and walkers, joggers and baby buggies - and lots, and lots of dogs. When you sit down in a large municipal park like this is you are assured of an almost voyeuristic experience -overhearing lovers conversations, dog owners crooning to their beloved pets, a first step by a child, the cry of a toddler as their balloon floats off....and your fare share of major arguments - because New Yorkers can really "let it all hang out." Let's just say I was not disappointed.
On the other hand, I am waiting to see if a certain challenging project comes through so I can comfortable afford my apartment AND extend a serious "wellness hand" to a new client. Waiting these things out is not a strength of mine, so walking the city certainly helps to de-stress me. On the other hand the weather men are prediciting a group of storms, so I gather I'll be cleaning my mini apartment to de-stress for the next few days. When it storms here there is thunder lightening and raindrops the size of crocodile tears fall. During the most recent storm I relented and bought a "real major umbrella" only to find out that (a) you can't walk down the street with it, without mauling your fellow pedestrians, who walk to close to you and (b) when the wind blew - the umbrella acted like a parachute, pulling me several yards in the wrong direction. A real video moment.
Right now, though, I'm looking out of my 24th floor view and I can see for miles and miles...this runaway mom is content.
