obey God's commandments

Just learned something this evening.

We obey Him so we can have more fun. I used to think that it was more for safety reasons :)) 'and your joy will be full'. Now how to present it to the kids so they understand that I am not trying to make their life miserable when I ask them to pick up the toys :)))

that really is so true! its for both our safety and to give us more joy.the more we obey GOd, the more joy we will have in life, the hard part is, people often mistake this for and easy life,they get so wrapped up in worldly things they dont realize the joy they are really missing if they just stop, obey God, and enjoy the simple things in life

aha, I agree, our pastor did talk about that too - gotta take the Bible in its entirety and also remember that 'in this word we will have trouble'.
'Joyful' doesn't necessarily mean 'easy' :)

We had a big talk with the kids today. They seemed to have understood why we, parents sometimes ask them to do things they don't want to do and why it is important to obey.
They got it in theory.. I think :))

Yep, I remember learning this when I took a class on Theology of the Body. I loved how it was put into those words. I too hope I can explain it to my kids when they get older.
