Ohhh my. Ok. I have a sinus headache and 'computer back' in my upper left shoulder, so I don't know how clearly I will debate some of your points, CleanNaturalLady, but here goes. I know you are a nice person and smart as a whip, so I trust you will not take this in any way as a personal attack.
Point # 1. 'Religious Right' is a buzz word used by leftist liberals, especially the leftist media, to categorize and 'name call' all Christians because they dare speak out against anything these new age whackos come up with! (ex: abortion on demand, abortion for underage minors, scientific engineering of embryos, WHY Dr. Kevorkian is wrong, homosexuality...and so forth) So please beware of that misnomer...it is a hot button and triggers negative mental associations designed to shut all of us Christians UP! Believe me, soon the word christian will become the new four-letter word. Not because we deserve it, but because of progression of an amoral, leftist agenda.
Point #2. You are of course right that we will never know the mind of God. We're just His special creation and puny and broken and fallen to boot. However....and this is a big however, God makes His mind REAL CLEAR and simple to understand throughout His divinely inspired words in the New and Old Testaments. I like to set the Living Bible, a plain English paraphrase, next to the old King James version and give my mind and heart a good workout. I prefer to call the bible the' Answer Book.' Got questions on raising children? How to run your business? How to treat debt?? (the bible says don't go into debt. How's that for a novel idea?!) Treat your parents? Treat your work week? All the answers are in there. The problem is.....people on this earth think they're SMARTER THAN GOD. They've come up with new and improved [so they think] ways to behave. The "all-knowingness" of pride-full, egotistical, stubborn humans has reached pandemic proportions via the information highways of our modern world. And speaking of those people who think they're smarter than God, I also personally and thoroughly believe that the moral deprivation that is eating away like a cancer at our families and society is promoted and used by communist /socialist /Marxist leaning people - some with a great deal of political clout! Let me toss out some initials of one such leftist Marxist: BO.
You see; the weaker, morally ignorant, and wishy-washy us "unwashed masses" are ...the easier we are to subdue and control. Compare modern day America with Europe. Who is really free-er of taxes, laws, and conditions? It's gotten to the point nowadays, that the leftist media; the PC police; won't let anyone speak out about anything unless it is from their mostly amoral standpoint. The problem is - There are absolutes in life! Absolute right and absolute wrong. God laid down the "TOP 10" absolutes for us in Exodous 20.
I hope and pray that you will see that the "Religious Right", those opinionated, vociferous 'church ladies' (and men) characterized so cutely by Dana Carvey on Saturday Night Live, are to be applauded and respected for their courage. Yes, their approach could be fine-tuned. I guess we all could put a little more love out there. But remember, as my dear old pastor told me once, God changes the person not the PERSONALITY!
Comments:
Hypocritical and funny.
You pretty much just said that all Christians have to be right, that you shouldn't call them by a buzzword, and then followed it with your own buzzword for the group you're arguing against. *snort*
Most importantly though... it seems you didn't understand cleanaturalady's post AT ALL.
Yes & no. Liberals will admit that's what they are - liberal like the 'Libertines' of old Europe- when asked but they don't like to admit it! I don't actually know where 'leftist' originated from...it may be from some sort of unseen political Richter Scale. But here's the rub; the left PRETENDS to be moderate or 'right'. The 'right' or religious right don't pretend. They are what they are, with no guise.

Ok, then what is the point of cleanaturalady's post? And lets not do name calling. I did say in last paragraph that many 'Christian right' could fine-tune their approach... that's what I got from CNL's post; that she resents 'church lady' types. I used to roll on the floor laughing when I saw that skit on SNL.
Ha! I was doing the Church Lady dance last night with my daughter (she was skipping and had no idea what Mommy was doing).
I don't understand what "God changes the person, not the personality" means. If the person is changed, and personality is part of a person, then wouldn't the personality also be changed?
Why do you think that communism, socialism, and Marxism are all the same thing? They are not, and one cannot use the words interchangeably. They are distinct philosophies. It takes a bit of wind out of your argument if you show that you don't even understand the things you are trying to use as epithets.
Not only did you call the other side "leftist liberals," you also called them New Age whackos. Nice. Way to go about finding a common ground.
I guess that you are not one of those people who thinks that Christ fulfilled the laws of the Old Testament if you use it as a guidebook to your life. How do you deal with the contradictions between it and the New Testament, then?
I'm not sure who you think is freer? America or Europe? Both have taxes, laws, and "conditions" (whatever that means).
So is religious right a buzzword kinda like "leftist liberals" then? aurorabunny
I was thinking the same thing.
Um, I didn't call anyone any name. I called your POST hypocritical.
And here's what I posted on cnl's post, and she confirmed that I had understood the point:
What I got from your post was not throwing of stones towards ANYONE.
I understood it as, "Regardless of how you interpret the Bible and God's word, know that there will be other Christians who feel differently. However, that makes them no less Christian or devout than you are, because according to the Bible, the ONLY thing that makes you a Christian or doesn't is your relationship with Jesus."
Then also, of course, that being the person who yells about how other Christians AREN'T Christian not only turns fellow Christians against each other, but also turns potential Christians away from God.
Did I read this right?
If so, WTF are people arguing about?
