Horrible People Amongst Us...

• I hope your husband dies so that you become a single mom and know what it is like.
• I hope you have a child born with a horrible disease or birth defect so that you know what it is like.
• I hope your child becomes ill and you have to suffer through it.
• I hope that your husband loses his job and therefore you lose your home and all you hold valuable.
• I hope you fail and become an embarrassment to your family.
• I hope your daughter becomes a teen mother.
• I hope your child struggles and you have to deal with the agony.
• I hope your husband fails.
• I hope-
• I wish-

What kind of people wish these things? Many amongst us... You can find these comments all over CafeMom- coming from evil, vile women that think themselves better than another.

How sad that they are mothers...

Of course, we are all entitled to our own opinions... but just remember- your opinion opens a little door to your soul, and we all get a peek at the darkness that resides there.

Another reason to stay out of the Answers section.  That is where the vilest of the vile hang out, man.  The anonymity brings out a whole other layer of brutality.  I absolutely am shocked by it.  Then again I am shocked by the things that are said in groups and in journals too and there there is no anonymous option.

I know I've had these things said to me, on multiple occasions.
Most recently, if I remember correctly, I was told "I hope your child gets swine flu."

I agree, people can be so mean.  Why?  You don't know these people so how can you possibly wish something so evil on them.

The truly bizzare thing about such statements is that the people making them don't REALLY hope or wish any such thing; they either want someone to understand the pain they're going through or want to re-direct some self-loathing.  The default setting "Everyone is entitled to her opinion" doesn't apply in these situations because the statements in question aren't opinions, they're fantasies borne out of frustration.
