Every day, I look at something to improve my mood. I believe if you surround yourself with things to make you smile, you can deal with anything life hands you. Corny I know but it works for me. My gardens always make me smile but its also a challenge because I see the things that need to be done and wish I was further along!

Here's one for today though. I bought a cute birdhouse from Joanne's to hang in my backyard. I bought it more for decor and didn't think it would actually be used since I have 2 already in my yard that don't seem to be inhabited. What I need to explain though is that the 2 I have already were made by my boys in cub scouts and are very basic (and of course wonderful to me) but not fancy and they never got around to painting them. I set them back a little from the house thinking the birds would appreciate that.

Now the birdhouse from Joanne's has a rustic style metal roof and door with a design embossed on it. Very cute! I hung it on a hook by the house until I had a chance to hang it out in the yard. Well, wouldn't you know, within a couple of days, a bird had chosen it for her nest and moved in quickly! Every day, I watch her pop in and out adding more and more twigs. So much so, that they're pushing out the back escape hatch. I peeked in one day to see the nest (when I thought she wasn't in there) and I saw 2 big eyes looking up at me! So cute and sweet, I can't help but smile. I always remark to family and friends, my amazement at her picking such a high traffic spot. My husband's response was the best - she wanted a 2-bedroom condo! So, the birdhouse is staying right where it is and we'll see how things go. Nature is a wondrous thing!
