My son has been waking once in the night for a bottle for about 3 months now. Prior to that he was waking twice. It's been really rough on me because I'm pregnant. I'm so tired with this pregnancy and when he'd wake up for a feeding it would take me hours to go back to sleep. I wasn't ready to cut out the night time feeding because he was drinking 6-8 oz which made me think he was hungry and needed to eat.
Last night I put him to bed at 8:00 like I always do and he slept until 7:30 this morning! I am doing a happy dance right now, you just can't see it. I feel so much more rested this morning than I have been because I just slept through the night for the first time since he was born!
I got pregnant with him when my first baby was just 10 months old and she didn't sleep through the night until 13 months old. Seven months later, I had my son and then was up all night again nursing a newborn. Now I'm pregnant again, and while I am thrilled that he's sleeping through the night, I know that come December I'll be starting all over with the sleepless newborn stage again.
The great news is our family will be complete with this third baby. So once baby #3 sleeps through the night, I will be done with the extreme exhaustion that comes with the baby years. Then I will just have to get them all out of diapers.
