No rest for the wicked ~

I spoke to my sister today. She is feeling 50% better with just one dose of the tamiflu. The oncologist wanted to put her on some other meds starting today for her kidneys but now that she is feeling 50% better they thought they didn't need to. What a relief considering how I was feeling yesterday!

She will continue on the tamiflu for 4 more days. She even has an appetite.

I asked her where she thinks she contracted the flu and there were 2 situations where she was exposed to a handful of people. A trip to Manhattan and washing her hands in the sky box at MSG might have been it, but who's to know. She bought warm nuts off a street vendor when she was there. Yeah she knows better with her already lowered immune system and washed her hands as soon as she could. I imagine even the grocery store carts are a culprit. I am just glad she's feeling better. I'll keep ya posted in my bubbles.

We were up pretty late getting Shelby's hair done. The girl doing it is my nephews girlfriend and she's in her 2nd year of beauty school. We had to go out and get more bleach cause her hair just wasn't lightening up. She was jet black remember. Anyways, after the 2nd treatment and trimming off the dead ends she was ready for color. I helped her rinse it out and we were both so pleased with the outcome. It's sort of like caramel. Not blonde or strawberry blonde. It's darker on the bottom.

I'll post pics tonite after her 8th grade promotion ceremony.

Lastly, we are getting things together for my son's townhouse for college. I managed to clean out the linen closet last weekend and put together my old towel sets so they will have some matching towels as well as a rug and shower curtain. I'm glad I hung onto these things now!

This Saturday after a graduation I'm attending we'll hit some yard sales looking for lamps, a couch (sofa bed preferably) and other items they will need to fill their place up with. A sofa bed would be awesome since we'll stay there instead of hotels when we visit. My sil has plenty of pots and pans and utensils. We'll provide some plates and a few casserole dishes. They will eat most of their meals at home so we won't need to buy a big meal plan this time. He'll be happy about that. Home cooking is the way to go! Sara (my niece) is a good cook and Tommy is learning. He has a list of meals he wants me to show him how to make and he's a whiz at macaroni & cheese, and beans over rice. Oh and fried rice too.

We're going up to the townhouse the last weekend of the month to take a load up and to take some measurements. We were given an antique desk for him but want to measure the doorways before hauling it way up there.

We have our annual Blackout Sabbath party this Saturday. You remember? lights out, power down, off the grid for 12 hrs, drink sangria, play music, build a fire and chill surrounded by lanterns and the stars. I am looking forward to having friends over and listening to the sounds of crickets, music and laughter.

So all in all a busy time for us.

Thanks for all your concern about my sister. It threw me for such a loop yesterday, I ate poorly and felt out of it all day. I'm better now and am focusing on Shelby and her graduation.

Great news about your sister, phew! And I'd love to see a pic of the new "do". I'm so used to seeing her with jet black hair!

We realized months ago that solstice is on Father's Day, darnit!  So we are caving and not doing the party thing this year.  We'll celbrate just with us.  happy Solstice, sister! :)

Oh, Maria...I'm so sorry I hadn't seen this sooner...Thank God, your sister is feeling better.  A setback she surely didn't need!!  I'm happy she is bouncing back.
