Well, What I thought was a peaceful day at the pool turned into spending a wild day in the basement of my mom's house!
I got off work at 9am this morning and it was 90 degrees, so I wanted to take my daughtetr to this nice water park in Wymore. Wymore is about 20 minutes from my house. So, at 1 pm we left. We got up there and it was closed. I asked some kid and he said that they were in a tornado watch till 9pm. My DD was upset but I told her it was better safe than sorry. I looked up and the sky was very grayish-blue.
I called my Sis and we went to her house. I had not walked into the house and her husband was called out to weather spot. He is Fire Chief and they go looking for storms. He didn't have to go far. Outside his back porch was the huge wall cloud. I told my sis that my DD and I are headed home. We were still 10 minutes from home. After much disscussion with Fire Chief. He said to leave.
We from my sis house we headed west (into the storm) and then turned south. I was pushing the speed limit because I wanted to get home and now. When I got to the hill that goes into are little town my cell rang. I pulled off the highway to answer it. My sis asked me how far away from home are you. I said I am on the hill. She said look west. OMG! I saw the clouds rotating. It was the most scariest thing I had every seen. Sis said there was a tornado on the ground Southwest of Odell. Odell is about 30 minutes from us. I went home got my husband and the dog then went to mom's to wait this thing out. Next, the sierons came on and everyone to the basement. I was listening to tv, computer and scanner. Then they said "There is a tornado on the ground 9 miles North of Marysville or a 1/2 mile south of Oketo. We were 1/2 mile away from this thing.
It rained, the wind blew and it thundered and lighting. All the time I was making sure my grandma was in her closet with her helmet on. Mom was at work and sis and I were calling back and forth to make sure everyone was OK. Thankfully, my God's grace we were all ok, no damage was done anywhere. After the storm, we drove up the road and didn't see any damage. We were spared this round. I'm glad we are all safe. PS: My DD and I were still in our swimsuites!
