The toughest thing in making a budget is accounting for all the little things that come up, the things that aren't monthly bills. Like a b-day present for a kids friend (that can eat up 30-40 bucks!), medical co-pays, eating out, etc. You really need to budget for those things as well as the normal stuff. If you KNOW it is likely someone will need a haircut, or new clothes, or camp dues---make flexibility in your budget for those things. Otherwise, you are doomed to fail before you even begin.
So....budget for those things, and some random spending cash (even if only 5 dollars a week) so you don't go crazy.
