I am so irate that singer Chris Brown did NOT receive any jail time for beating his girlfriend, singer/model Rihanna. Why is it that celebrities can get away with SO MUCH in this country? I can honestly say that I am not surprised, but just saddened by this recent news that Brown skates by unpunished for his crimes by serving probation, community service, and attending domestic violence classes.

His community service needs to be at a domestic violence safehouse. The victims can give him the punishment he actually deserves. Someone to do the same thing that he did to Rihanna.

Don't make any more records, Chris. Don't buy them people. Don't go to his concerts. Please, Oprah, don't have him on your show again.

Good-bye, Chris. Find another career.

It's not just because he is a celeb, that is the standard punishment for 1,2 and even 3rd time domestic violence offenders in most states.  Very rarely do they serve jail time unless there was some serious bodily injury or they used a weapon.  It is sad that they get off so easy, usually to be arrested again for the same thing.  I am actually surprised that he got the punishment he did because if who he is.  I never cared for him or his music so not buying his records won't be an issue.  But this country needs to stand up and change the way domestic violence offenders are punished.

Also, lots of DV issues don't get reported. So the stuff could have been happening for a long time, but usually the first time it's reported a lot really don't happen. It also gets judged on what the victim says....if they show up. If the victim lets on through testimony that they are not afraid or whatever, it's not going to go anywhere anyway. My boyfriend says if the victim don't show up at court, they usually get less of a punishment.

I bet if California did not have the fiscal problems that we do he would have gotten some time in jail. But the reality is...it wouldh have cost the state a great deal of money to protect him in lockdown.

I pray this does not send the wrong message...
