Around 3am, last Sunday morning, I woke up to the sounds of glass breaking and people yelling. I could see fire, but couldn't tell what was on fire. I was about to call the police when I heard the sounds of a fire truck getting closer. I went downstairs and opened my front door, and saw that it was another neighbor's garage engulfed in flames!
By this time, the whole neighborhood was outside. Along with 4 fire trucks, police, & EMT's. Thankfully, the whole family got out safely. Apparently thanks to their bull dog! But their whole house is severely damaged, and I believe they lost everything - either by the fire or the smoke & water damage.
An article appeared in our local newspaper about what happened.
You can read about it here.
This Saturday from 10am to 1pm, a 9 year old neighborhood girl has organized a lemonade stand. All the proceeds will go to the family who lost their home in the fire.
Even the simplest acts of kindness go a long way.
If you live in South Jersey and want to buy a cup of lemonade - PM me, and I will tell you where!

We had a fire in our garage when I was 10 or 11... it was very frightening- I was at home in bed and had to go stand in the drizzle and watch flames shooting over my parents' heads as they tried to save our car...
