I turned on the faucet about 7 and no water came out. At first I
thought maybe the water co mistakenly cut us off b/c we are in a duplex
and sometimes utilities get confused. So we called and it was a water
mane that broke.
hubby has been to two stores now and still can't find any water so
now he is going over to Ohio. This is crazy and of all things the
weather has been in the 80's so I hope it goes back on soon. Thank
goodness I had given my kids baths before this happened.

UPDATE @ 8:30pm West Virginia American Water has issued a
precautionary boil water advisory for customers within the city limits
of Huntington who have experienced a loss of water service or low water
pressure, according to a company news release.
If other areas outside the city limits eventually lose water or
water pressure due to this water main break, this advisory could be
expanded.
When water service is restored, customers should boil their water
before consumption until further notice. Customers are asked to bring
water used for drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth to a full
boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present in
the water. West Virginia American Water also recommends the following
steps:
- Throw away beverages and ice cubes if made with tap water.
- Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking.
- Provide pets with boiled water after cooling.
- Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using
bottled water; most home water filters will not provide adequate
protection from microorganisms.
- Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries.
For more information, contact West Virginia American Water's customer service center at 1-800-685-8660.
ORIGINAL STORY HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A major water
main break Friday evening near the intersection of 1st Avenue and 24th
Street has cut off the water supply for nearly the entire city,
according to a Cabell County 911 dispatcher.
Thousands of city residents are said to be without water. The break
was reported just before 6:30 p.m. It occurred near a water treatment
plant in the area. Around 8 p.m., workers were outside looking at
blueprints to try and determine the best location to shut the water off. WSAZ.com's Tim Irr said the area from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue along
24th Street resembles a creek, which has attracted several curious
onlookers. Authorities shut down 24th Street in the area because of
concerns it had been undermined by all of the water. Additional details are unavailable, but we will update you as we get new information. Keep clicking on WSAZ.com for the latest.
