My bug, my little Tadpole, my baby is obsessed over football. I take him to High School football games and let him watch NFL. He has been obsessed with it from infancy. It was the only way to calm him down when he would flip out.

Now he is begging me to play. I don't know a thing about football... I just recently became a fan myself. And my son was the one to get me hooked on it. Every fall he will see the football team. Before he could speak he would point and grunt at the team. When he started speaking he would tell me "Mom ootball". Now he is old enough to say "Mom I want to play football".

My husband is more an intellectual and doesn't really like football. He does not understand why my son likes it so much.

I found this group called Optimist football team. It is a program that trains kids from 7-12 or in some states 5-14. So if you have kids in it, do you have any advice for me? If you are in Idaho can you give me any advice? I am moving to Charlotte, NC where the program starts at 5-14 but in Idaho it doesn't begin until the kids are 7... so he will be behind the other kids when he gets there.

I want to know more.

I don't know anything about the program, but I know that my son wanted to play football when he was 12. I was afraid because he'd only played baseball & basketball and he was really skinny. I ended up letting him play and he did great. He played for two years and decided that was enough for him. Good luck.

My husband and I are guessing he is going to be the kid who loves sports and might try out for as many programs that are offered. He loves football, soccer (football), baseball, basketball, and if it has a ball he likes it.
