*****UPDATE*****

Seems as if this bill is officially "dead in the water!!!"

The cap-and-trade climate bill passed by the US House of Representatives in June has no chance of approval in the US Senate, a top energy industry official said on Tuesday.

Jack Gerard, president of the American Petroleum Institute (API), said popular opposition to the bill - HR-2454, the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) Act - is growing and an increasing number of senators of both parties have deep reservations about the House measure.

“I think the more the public understands about this climate bill, the more they are speaking up and having effect on their elected officials,” Gerard told a press conference.

He said the House climate change measure, also known as the Waxman-Markey bill, “would not pass in the Senate”.

http://www.icis.com/Articles/2009/09/15/9247685/us-senate-will-not-approve-house-cap-and-trade-bill-api.html

And this is one of the primary reasons why......

Throughout the debate, the bill's defenders said Waxman-Markey would cost "less than the price of a postage stamp per day," a small price to pay, they declared, for saving the Earth from global warming. Their evidence: a Congressional Budget Office report that estimated the cost would be $175 per household a year.

But, as is often the case in Washington, it's what they didn't say that was more important.

While the House debated and eventually voted, filed away within the walls of the Treasury Department was an internal estimate that projected a cap-and-trade law would cost Americans up to $200 billion a year in new taxes. These taxes won't be levied directly but will be paid when power providers and other carbon dioxide producers buy CO2 emission allowances from the federal government and then pass the costs on to customers — as will inevitably happen.

Overall, the costs would be "the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15%," Declan McCullagh reports on his "Taking Liberties" blog on CBSnews.com.

"At the upper end of the administration's estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year," McCullagh wrote.

On Friday, June 26th, 2009, just before 7:00PM EST, the Democrat lead Congress with the help of 8 Republicans (in name only) voted to pass the single biggest tax hike that will affect EACH AND EVERY person in the United States by a 7-point margin...219 (D) to 212 (R).

Here is the official final role call for this bill. Republican "YES" votes and Democrat "NO" votes are in italics.  It's important to note that there were 44 DEMOCRATS who voted "NO" and had the RINO's voted "NO" this bill would have been scrapped--for the time being!

Here are their faces:

It's not a "done deal" YET!!! This bill still needs to pass through the Democratic controlled SENATE before it reaches President Obama's desk on or around SEPTEMBER 18, 2009, so there is STILL time to CRUSH this bill, before it CRUSHES this country! This is not "alarmist" or "fear mongering" this is REALITY!

What if you decide to sell your home or rental unit(s)?  Not so fast!  In order to SELL your home you will need to have it assessed, bring it up to code, which could mean replacing windows, heating/cooling systems, major appliances, etc.  All hail the slum lord!

thank you for this post. People need to know the magnitude that the Fed gov't will have with respect to invading every aspect ofyour life. Just learned one point of the 300 page amendment was that prior to a home sale, your home would have to bve inspected by gov't dept to receive an environmental rating. Not sure yet if you do not make the grade, if that means you cannot sell your home. But even to have your home rated by the gov't prior to a sale of your own property is scary.  Let your voice be heard. This bill is bad. Nevermind than NOONE read the 1500 page bill - AGAIN

Dear sweet heavens!!  My tax "cost" would be another 700.00 per year. Where in the WORLD am I supposed to find that?!  We are already extremely frugal,  our heat is set to 62 in the winter. We don't use our AC.  How much more can we cut?!

That's just it busywithkids!  Many of us ARE already stretched thin...but apparently Obama and company think if you have an extra crumb, and someone else NEEDS that crumb you need to pony up, and share your "wealth!"  Talk about everyone being equally impoverished.

From superpower country to supersocialist country in a matter of months!  Yes He can!!!  Unless WE do our part and DEMAND that our Senators vote NO on this bill--which is expected sometime AFTER September 18th!!
