A little while ago I read this comment from a mom who is going through the worst thing any of us mothers can think of: waiting for the life of her child to end. I don't know if any of you have heard of Shayla and Shianna and what happened in May of this year, but I'm here to tell you that once you hear the story, none of the other posts will look or seem that important anymore.
On May7,2009 these two sisters, aged 6 and 4, were holding hands as they crossed a street and were hit by a car. The youngest, Shayla, died not too long after and her sister,Shianna, is still hanging on in hospice care. She doesn't have much longer to live. I visited their mother's page, her screen name is Shishay, and I was overwhelmed with emotion when I saw videos and pictures of these two happy little girls. What was done to them is unfair, they had barely begun to live their lives when it was cut short. All because a driver didn't pay close enough attention to where they were driving.
This mother needs our support. Because I don't know about you, but if my reason for living (my children) were taken from me and at the same time no less, I know I would need all the well wishes, notes of encouragement and support I could get.
I'm not adding a link, because I don't know if that is allowed. But please stop by and see what I've seen and heard and remember to keep your kids close, hug them and love them; even if they are annoying teenagers or tantruming two year olds. You never know when the worst could happen and then all the things you found annoying and frustrating become sweet memories of children you can no longer hold.
P.S. Shishay has given me permission to post this. If she doesn't like what she reads, then I will take this down.
