Today was my gender sonogram, finally, and we left the house about a quarter til' nine as planned and made to the doctor's office by 9:35 and was most likely in the doctor's examining room at about 9:40, five minutes before my scheduled appointment. Well at first my doctor's appointment was not going as we had originally planned. After the nurse took my weight, blood pressure and urine sample, she led us back into Room 3 and the ultrasound room was number 5 so I thought something was up right from the get-go...
She comes in and check's the baby's heart rate and measures my belly and tells me they'll see me in four weeks for a glucose screening - now by this time I'm a little upset because the doctor I had seen four weeks prior to this visit had told my grandmother and I who was there at the time that this week would be my sonogram, so I was afraid I'd gotten all excited for nothing. I told the lady, "Dr. Barnhorn said I was getting a sonogram today, so how come I'm not being taken back to the other room?" Well she looked over her files and realized he had forgotten to order the sonogram for today, so she apologized and went to see if Dr. Darlene had a hole in her schedule, which she did, so to satisfy my less-than-happy-self they let us wait out in the waiting room until they had the room ready for me to come back.
By this time its 10:30 and me, david, and my grandmother were called back into the sonogram room and I laid on the table and was prepped for my ultrasound. Now mind you I've been waiting six very long months to find out if we're expecting a wee lass or lassie, so you can imagine it was no surprise when my pulse felt like it was racing. So after I was prepped with the jelly, and she took a couple pictures, she asked, "Would you like to know the sex?" It was all I could do to not scream, "Yes, please for the love of God tell me already!", so she then rolled the cam all over my belly trying to find something if anything.
After what seemed a very long five minutes she jumped and said, "There", I squinted at the monitor and said, "Is that what I think it is?" She smiled and said, "It certainly is...looks like you've got yourself a healthy baby boy!" At those words, David grinned from ear to ear as grandma laughed while saying, "I knew it was a boy." I wanted to shout at the top of my lungs I was so excited, we've got ourself a little boy :)
After we recieved our pictures we called and told everyone the good news. I never thought in a million years I'd be having a baby boy but I couldn't ask for anything better...look out world, here comes our little man!
