Dear Asshat residents of my Asshat little town,

Once upon a time I thought they were pretty, well the colored kind that explode up in the sky at least.  But this time every year they're gradually becoming the bane of my existence.

I'm tired of hearing people go on and on in this stupid town about how they have the RIGHT to set off fireworks!  Well yippity-do, I suppose you do.  I guess I don't have a right to have peace and quiet in my own home.  I guess my 3 year old doesn't have the right to go to sleep at night without being almost in sleepy-land and then being yanked back into wakefulness by an M-80 going off.  I guess my dogs don't have a right to not have to be cowering in corners in their own home, hiding from loud scary noises.  I guess it's just tough cookies for me that I have a child with a disability who rarely sleeps as it is but I get to wake up with him at all hours of the night so you can watch something go boom-boom.

It's just total crap.  I'm NOT trying to be a party pooper, I would be open to all kinds of compromise on this issue.  But do fireworks REALLY need to be lit off here in suburbia, in your driveway?  YOU can choose to set your fireworks off somewhere else, my family and I can not CHOOSE to get away from them unless we want to vacate our own home.  Even if they are legal in the suburbs, do they really need to be legal for a week and a damn half before the 4th of July?  I could probably withstand one night of this bull if that was all I had to put up with.

Not to mention that while I have ALWAYS found it insulting that people are comparing our current economy to the Great Depression, I find it to be even more offensive when suddenly an entire town of down trodden, financially oppressed folks come out in hordes with hundreds of dollars that they are basically planning to light on fire.  Glad to see that you can't pay your freaking water bill but you can buy out the VFW's Blackcat stand there Cletus.

I could continue raving but now I have to go tend to dogs that are practically piddling themselves and catch a cup of coffee before my little boy gets woken back up by your Hilbilly Blaster 3000 Dynamite stick.  You.  Suck.  Ass.

Sincerely,

Firework hatin', Party Poopin' biotch

Sorry to anyone that lives near me, but fireworks are legal here, my kids love them, and my dog isn't a spaz- so w will be lighting up on the holiday because we want to and we can.

Just because your child and your dogs can't handle it doesn't mean that other children should do without if they live in a firework legal area. Can't deprive the masses for a few.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree.  I think WAY more than "a few" people are bothered by the fireworks night after night after night.  And as I said in my post, those who are setting them off have the option of choice--my family does not.

And just for the record, my dogs aren't "spazzes" either...they are both rescues who were beaten and neglected and loud noises really spook them.  My son isn't a spaz either; he is autistic and has sensory processing disorder, so ditto to the loud noises.

If people would have some manners and realize that they aren't the only people on the planet than no one would have to be deprived of anything.

Thanks again for the comments ladies.  Looks like more than just "a few" of us have an issue with our kids not being able to sleep for a week straight!

Fireworks are illegal in AZ because of high fire danger, but we still get some A-Holes every year that get fireworks from some bordering town and decide to put them off.  I mean, you think they would be decent enough to do it out in the desert or at the lake, but NOOoo.. they aren't that smart!

I have to buy my dog tranquilizers every year. I'm thankful my son is older now. I used to live in a resort area when he was a babyand every damn day from 2 weeks before to 6 weeks on the weekends after the fourth there would be fireworks. I know this may sound stupid, but please hear me out. What I did was I layered blankets on my bedroom window, turned the ac on and left the TV on, It didn't block every thing, especially the hillbilly blaster 3000(LMAO @ that comment!!!), but it helped a little bit.

I will be happily tolerant on the day of the 4th. Heck, I'm even moderately tolerant this week just because. Not much since some idiot in my neighborhood is letting off some weird thing once in a while (at least one a day) that sounds like a freaking EXPLOSION Seriously it's insane woke dh and I up at like midnight the other night!! WTH?

It's the crap that goes on for weeks and weeks in advance, I've already been hearing fireworks for a month. Seriously?? A Month??

LOL...my dog isn't a "spaz" either...he isn't afraid of much but fireworks send him over the edge.  I have yet to know a dog who didn't mind fireworks??

I'm all for people being allowed to set off fireworks on the 4th, maybe til midnight because it doesn't get dark here til almost 10, but why would you not just save the money and go to a free REAL fireworks display instead? The base here has a decent one so that is what we are going to do. I don't understand people setting them off before or after the 4th either. Because we live on base, we are not allowed to set off any type of fireworks, but even if we were, they are too expensive, dangerous, and noisy for us to be doing them in our yard. I would rather save $100 and go see the free show at 11:00 PM and keep my kids up late to see them than to keep other people's kids up that are scared of fireworks, etc.
