so the associate pastor at the church i used to attend started a "skate ministry" about 3 years ago. i know for a fact that during that time he has misused funds donated by the skaters. he admitted it to a parent at the last skate competition! i find out yesterday that he's closing the skate area down for good! he just completed building a quarter pipe with a few of the boys! how can you just shut down a community outreach ministry without any notice!!!!!! his reason.....it's an unsafe environment. the language used by the kids is not appropriate. they're a bad influence.
HELLO!!!!!! if you're going to be involved in a subculture you're going to have to take both the pros and the cons. u have to meet these kids where they are before u can even broch the topics of appropriateness. and especially any kind of religious conversations!
also the church own the property next to it. a house sits there and has been rented thru a realty company to private citizens. we happen to know the family who moved in. they're daughter is a friend of taco's. my other son comes home yesterday and tells me that he's not allowed to jump on their trampoline anymore. no one is! the church doesn't want to get sued if someone gets hurt! the tenents told the realty company they had a trampoline to begin with and was told that was not a problem. while it is the church's property, they did agree to the trampoline and are renting the house thru a company, not by themselves! I just called the family and told them it was ok for my kids to still jump.
WTF!?!?!?!
so i'm searching for a new church or place of worship. i have one in mind in fact. it just kills me that i refused to move out of this area b/c i didn't want to leave my friends or the church and now this craziness ensues. i've never had friends before. like real long term female friends with kids and all. and i can't leave the area b/c me and the kids are to tied to the community outside of church.
ugh.

Does your current church have a board/commitee of elders? I know my old church in WA did, and you can take these types of concerns to them. I haven't been to church since i have been back in PA, but my fiance and his family attend life gate in tomstown.
