So many parenting styles...why?

Child-Led parenting.  Attached Parenting.  Love and Logic Parenting.  I'm wondering why there are SOOO many styles of parenting?  And where's the group/board/forum for just 'Common Sense' parenting?  I'll admit it...I do ask other parents for their advice.  I ask my mom.  I research on the internet, but it comes down to what I am comfortable with.  I do not spank my child, I do time-outs...I believe in baby wearing (wish I could have found a comfy sling when my son was younger- would have worn him more).  I believe in self-weaning (to a point), but I do not think of myself as an AP parent or a full Child-Led parent.  And I just found the term Love & Logic, but not sure I fully agree there either.

I think I'm a Common Sense parent.  I watch and look and listen and figure out what works best with my son.

Anyhow, I just think it weird that there are so many different styles.
