I am really overjoyed right now. Our youngest son Seth, tied his shoes by himself today. He is 4 years old and he is ahead of the game in everything homeschool wise, but learning to tie his shoes was something that would just frustrate him, sometimes to the point that he would breakdown and cry. I would have to stop him from trying because he would want to sit there for hours attempting to do it, and we all know that you can't accomplish anything if you're frustrated. Now, his twin sister, Serah, has been tying her shoes for a while now, another reason I think he was so adamant to learn the process.
Today the kids wanted to do a little bike riding so I told them to put their shoes and they could. Being pregnant I just walk beside them, no riding for me. Well they all have a pair of Crocs, something they can easily slip into, and a couple of pair of sneakers. Well Seth has one pair of sneakers that have velcro straps, and another pair that lace up. It shocked me to see that he brought out the lace up shoes to put on. I didn't say anything, I just got my iFlip out and secretly recorded him because I've learned that every time I don't record them, especially when they're trying something new or something they haven't yet mastered, they end up accomplishing whatever it is. All of the other kids had their shoes on and were ready to go, but Seth was still attempting to get those laces right. His older brother asked him if he wanted him to tie them for him, and he replied with a stern "NO, I'll get it!" And he showed all of us because he did, and all of the kids roared wildly with applause and "You did it! You did it!" He is beaming right now as am I!
