So often I hear so many negative things about c-sections so I thought I'd take the time to share the positive experience I had delivering my son....

Two years ago when it was my daughter's time to come into the world I spent two days being induced only to wind up having an emergency c-section... a little scary.

When I found out I was pregnant with my son I discussed the option of a repeat c-section with my OB and she was on board with what I wanted.

I had a 7:45 appointment on May 8th.  I arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am.  I was taken to my room and signed all that lovely paperwork. After that my nurses came in to introduce themselves, then my surgical techs, and finally the anaesthesiologist.  Each of these people explained what their responsibility in the OR was and answered any questions I had.  My anesthesiologist in particular  was excellent explaining the effects of a spinal to me.

At 7:45 I was wheeled into the OR and had my spinal (which I was dreading because I heard so many bad things about them... It wasn't bad at all!!) I was laid on the operating table and my heart rate started to accelerate.  I was surprised because I knew the effects of the spinal as they were explained to me and not feeling my toes didn't bother me. Hmmm oh wait I was nauseous!!! I told the anaesthesiologist and he immediately shot something into my IV and bye bye nausea!! What do you know my heart rate was normal. I was simply afraid of puking!! LOL

My OB came in and said hello and my husband was allowed in then too.  My surgery started at 8:04 am and Colton arrived at 8:09 am. He was brought around the curtain so I could see him and my husband snapped a picture! Hubby then went to cut the umbilical cord and they got Colton cleaned up a little and he was brought back to me to visit and touch.  He and daddy went to wait in my recovery room.

I left the OR at 8:35 and my naked little boy was handed to me the second I got to my recovery room so I could nurse him.  Forty minutes later he got his bath (they just got the gunk off him in the OR) and he was weighed and measured in front of me. Then diapered and wrapped in blankies and handed right back to me for the ride to postpartum.

I convinced them to take out my catheter around 4 that evening and got rid of my IV the next morning.  I was off all Narcotics 2 days after and on the fourth day I didn't need any pain meds.

I don't care what anyone says, my son's birth was a wonderful experience and I wouldn't change a thing about it!!

Thanks for reading in and sorry this was so long!!
