You have the nerve to ask that?
I rescue "evil dogs" all the time. Christians and all faiths ask "Why do you judge me on a few idiots with our title?" So why do you judge MY dog on a few animals that had bad owners?

I saved him from the shelter... he was a fighting dog. But he loves me and protects me like nothing happened. He doesn't blame humans for what happened to him and he took the chance to love me and trust me. When I was pregnant puking every where he put his head in my lap and gave me kisses. When he thought someone was by my son's window at the old house he stayed put right by that window at attention until the danger was gone.
He saved me from a Boxer attack (yep I was attacked by a boxer). He is a well trained baby. And my son's best friend. You attack him and you will have problems with his whole family. He is my family and I will put my reputation on the line for him. Even if I have to go to the courts and use every penny I ever earned to prove every person wrong about the breed I would. And I refuse to move some where, where he isn't accepted.
Just because I was attacked by a boxer does not mean I blame all boxers. I blamed the owner and when I found that owner... oh were they shaking.
He is now 8 years old and is sensibly an old man. Gentle and loving he sleeps by me every night.. the only lethal thing about him is his farting. And anyone who has met him has fallen in love with him. He is the reason my cousin has a pit now and the reason many of my friends went and bought pits. They really are great dogs. Just not for families who are too busy.
So please respect the breed. If you don't have time do not adopt or buy one. Because that puppy turns into a raving loony full of energy and needs about three walks a day and about 2 hours of fetch.
Buyou is buff because my husband would take him on pulls. Meaning he would tie him up to his bike and let him pull him around the subdivision three times just to tire him out.
They eat a lot.. their high energy makes them hungry all the time. The only thing in danger is your furniture and shoes. He ripped through 100 dollars worth of my shoes before I grew smart and bought him a Kong. They are the only thing to stand up to pits.
And beyond that.. introduce the whole family to them because they are protective. If you don't introduce them those people are strangers. When I had my son we had to introduce Buyou first with a blanket with my son's scent. Then we showed him to Buyou. And after that they are inseparable.
The ones that irk me are the ones who put their dogs on a chain and leave them. I about have a fit over that!
90% of dog bites are caused by tethered, unneutered male dogs. Something to think about for the morons who chain their dogs up outside and refuse to get them fixed.
Yep! And that is just grrrr to me. A lot of the aggression can be linked to getting the dog fixed. And the ones who fight to keep their dogs from being fixed just get to me.
Well are you going to breed him? "No" Then why fight to keep him from being fixed?
Also some guy around my friend does not train his dog and ties him up. Well that dog attacked my friends little girl and now he is saying "well it is on my property" No you douche bag that only pertains to if the attack was in your house. Apparently he doesn't read the laws.
My baby is 55 pounds now and she's not quite a year old. As I type she's ripping into her football. She's quiet, more mellow than our boxer, smart, and protective of the family. I dare anyone to come after her because she's dangerous.
Before I had regular contact with a pitt 10 years ago I was afraid of them. Not because I bought into the hype, but because I thought there had to be some truth in it. They're no different than any other breed that's been demonized.
I was owned by a pit for 15 years and still cry when I see his collar and leash (I can't bear to part with them--they are the last things he wore). What a loyal and loving baby my Petey was! We got him when he was 5 weeks old and his mother had stopped nursing her litter. He was raised with my two children (then 2 and 4) and an assortment of cats. Shortly after his death, his kitty, Piggy, died too. She quit eating when he wasn't home anymore and slowly starved to death. This is the legacy of a vicious and ferocious animal? I think not!
To fill the void in our family, we visited the SPCA and found a beautiful fawn colored pit puppy--cowering in the corner and so frightened she could hardly stand for the shaking in her legs. She is now my prize mouser! Yes, mouser. In the past week my beautiful, quiet, shy, reserved, placid and the very antithesis of guard dog began protecting our home from the furry rodent invaders. She must scare them to death because there is never any blood, they are still warm and she cradles them in her mouth before dropping them on my feet--and smiling!
Our other pit, Wendy, was abandoned, abused and found us. Thank goodness! She is our comedian!
Those who complain have never known the love of these loyal dogs and believe all the negative hype and false reporting.
I love your pics! If I could get mine to wear clothes, I would have many pics to share (they are nudists I think).
I have a pit and she is a big baby and she loves my kids she lets them do what ever and she dont do anything to them
lol I wish I could say those were my babies. That comes from a youtube group that makes these videos to bring awareness to pit bulls.
The picture of the black dog is mine. I use to be afraid of pits myself until I got him. Boy do I adore that dog. I can't sleep unless he is by my bed and snoring. LOL both him and my hubby snore it is soooo funny.
He snuggles with my kitten Little Ricky (who is a runt) but when I get my camera out he jumps up and acts like the kitten is bothering him.
Now Bonnie my Chow mix is my cat. She has gotten rid of all of our rodent problem. We watch her play with the field mice in our backyard... it is like watching the discovery channel where the Killer whales are flipping the seals up in the air and playing with them.
I just wanted to say, my dad always had pits when I was growing up, we NEVER had any problems with them, other than the one that chewed the whole arm off the couch! LOL They were always loving, active, protective dogs. I would have one now, around all my 20 grandkids....if dh would let me! We had one once that would let my dd sit on her, dress her in hats and sunglasses, and never tire of letting her mess with him! Anyway, I'm glad to hear someone take up for these dogs.
I don't understand where hitting ANY dog in the head would be appropriate to teach the dog anything but agression!
Poor dog. I am not keen on them myself but I do not like ANY animal cruelty, and ANY dog can be agressive. It is up to the owners to dicipline and correct the behavior as with a child. Same thing.
A friend had a chow she got from a shelter, and he hated his feet touched, and one day snipped at her, nicked her hand, made it bleed and though she was scared, and more shocked then anything as she had him for a over a month or so then, she stared him down and in a deep stern voice said, "NO!!! NO biting MAX. NO"
I recall she said he was taken aback by her voice and seemed resentful.
I feel people should educate themselves and take a class on how to train their animals. Dogs are like people too and have feelings and emotions and have bad days too and this is how they 'vocalize' theirs.
Good luck to those whom have pits or any big moosey dog breed!

I love bully love. :) Great post!
And I wish more than anything that anyone who wanted to own this breed was forced to take training classes. Many pit owners, even well intentioned ones, aren't breed educated and put their dogs in high risk situations on a daily basis simply because they don't realize what they're doing.
