Today was actually nice. Although my teenage daughter is gone for the weekend with a friend and my teenage son was at work all day, things weren't so bad. My youngest made out with Mom's full attention. We grilled out our veges to keep with the tradition of grilling out like most everyone else. Then we swam, and swam some more. After dark, he played with sparklers and watched fireworks.

We had many conversations. I even told him about Mommy's choice to join Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. For now it will be with the On Shore volunteering but one day when he is grown, I plan to join the crew to stop whaling. He and I actually had a wonderfully grown-up conversation about it.

At the end of the night, he came up to me and gave me a big hug and told me he loved me. Awww..... He said it was the best 4th of July ever. *my heart melted*
