My DH and DD and I flew out to Arkansas for my bro's wedding.  DH flew back, leaving me and DD with my crazy, Southern, ultra-conservative (too too conservative for me) family.

At my bro's rehearsal dinner, I was discreetly nursing my baby without a cover while I was eating my dinner.  My ancient old aunt came by, gave me a horrible cat butt face a few times, and left.  The other day, we went down to Louisiana to see my relatives again since one had surgery and couldn't make the wedding.  Old Aunt Ginger was there again.  I started to nurse the baby in her living room and she said, "there's a rocking chair in the back room and a regular chair in the front guest room".  I said, "no thanks, we're fine here. *smile*".  Then after a while, we all went out to eat.  DD got hungry at the table, so I began to discreetly, once again without a cover, nurse her at the table.  Aunt Ginger looked down and said, "my wuhd!  kathryn!"  and gave the cat butt face.

My almost 90 year old grandmother gave me a talk of how I "shouldn't do 'that' in front of anyone" and how I was "inconsiderate".    My MIL has been nothing but supportive of me BFing her granddaughter and has been one of my biggest cheerleaders.  After what Grandmommy said to me the other day, I called MIL crying and said, "I miss y'all!  I'm so homesick.  Thank you for being so supportive!"

IDK if this was supposed to be a feel-good story, or what... but it feels good for me to not be butting heads with my sometimes-neurotic, but mostly-nice MIL.

I am sorry! But it is nice to hear of women who like their MILs. :) I love mine!

Oh, people just need to get over it already! Breastfeeding is not disgusting to see!
