Two weeks ago my Mom went for her regular annual checkup. Her doctor found a cyst 'the size of a softball', and recommended a full hysterectomy, with an oncology specialist present 'just in case.'
Her surgery was today, and did take a little longer than expected. They found ovarian cancer, stage 3C, which is good news and bad news. The bad news, of course, is cancer is not a good thing. The good news is, they were able to get "99.99%" of it, her specialist told us that 85% of people respond to treatment which is very encouraging.
She had NO pain, no bleeding, no weird hormone things, nothing. Her regular annual checkup is the only way they caught this, so please if you have not been to your doctor in a year or more, GO.
We will know more in a few days once Mom is awake and up and moving around and she and her doctors have discussed a course of treatment.
Thank you for continuing to pray for us and we will keep you posted.
Mom is still recovering in the hospital, we've had some ups and downs but appear to be making progress. The recovery period is rougher than we expected because the surgery was so much more extensive, they did a full ysterectomy, removed some lymph nodes and had to 'nick' her ureter and put in a stint to ensure kidney function after they removed growths there. It's taken a few tries to find pain meds that she could tolerate without terrible nausea, she is still on an IV, catheter, and oxygen while sleeping, so when she gets home she will need nursing/companion care for a little while. BUT overall her spirits are good, our priest was here yesterday to administer Sacrament of the Sick. She is getting truly outstanding care, the nurses have been really on the ball and very caring. Please continue to pray for us.

WOW! I'm so happy that they caught this sooner than later! Lots of prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the update! I'm so glad you're encouraging women to get annual exams! They're SOOO important. I'm glad to hear things are going ok with your mom. I've been thinking of her often and praying.
