Here is my journey in pictures of doing placenta encapsulation, enjoy! (some are a bit yucky). Next time I do it I'm going to add some herbs like RRL, Red Glover and Ginger to the ground placenta before I encapsulate it to give it even more of a nutritional boost!

Getting all my equipment ready.

Cleaning placenta

Notice the long cord?

Placenta Love. Later I cut the cord in half, formed it into 2 hearts and dehydrated it so Meghan could keep it as a keepsake.

Steaming placenta, traditional chinese method

Steamed placenta - yuck!

Dehydrating

Grinding

Finished product, 146 capsules!

WOW! It looks interesting but I do have to ask maybe a silly question but do you use those pots to cook in after you do all that? Sorry just curious but it is interesting.

All the tools/equipment I use are *strictly* for placenta encapsulation. They are disenfected and sterilized several times.

You can pay someone to do it for you.

It helps with PPD, mood, fatigue, engergy, enriched and increased breastmilk and decreased lochia.

I voted this POP Cindy, because I think others would be really interested in seeing it.

I think, though, that you should write and link a blog on WHY someone would want their placenta encapsulated.  :)

I agree it is kinda gross but thats why you pay your lovely doula's to do it for you! lol then you just pop your handy dandy pills and pretend they are multi-vitamins! lol

I know that some cultures do this and I think more power to them! However....I'm so glad this is one custom that hasn't got to America, lol. How did it smell while cooking it?

It wasn't the worse smell ever, I've changed diapers that were worse but not the best smell. Tolerable. Next time I'm adding ginger and lemon when I steam it.
