i think that when someone gets you a gift, you should thank them in person (if they're there) or by a phone call  to acknowledge you received it and then, you should also send them a hand-written thank you card.

i think that if something small in your house needs to be fixed, you should go to the hardware store and buy what you need to fix it.  you'll learn something.

i think that when you're bored, you should pick up a hobby, not turn on the tv.

i think that if you are at a social gathering, you should talk to the other people there, not text someone who isn't.

i think that if your pants need a button sewn on or a hole stitched up, you should pick up a needle, not take them to the tailor.

i think that if it's nice outside, you should go outside.

i think that if you're in line at the store or bank, etc you should hang up the phone when you get to the clerk.

i think that when you ask someone how their day is, you should listen to their answer.

i think that if you feel like a sweet treat, you should bake one.

i think that it's rude to have your earphones in while you're talking to someone... even if it's just one.

i think that food tastes better when you cook it yourself.

i think that my generation has lost out of so many of the simple joys in life.  no one knows how to fix a car plant a garden or crochet a baby blanket.  we're too dependent on other people to do everything for us.  we don't slow down and we don't listen.  we don't even call eachother anymore, instead we send a text message, eliminating the need to even hear eachother's voices.  we're always on the go and we never sleep.

i've been called "old fashioned" and "grandma" by my peers for thinking and doing these things, but i'll take that as a compliment.  i try to keep learning and growing and i hope my kids see that in me and take on these "old fashioned" qualities for themselves.

i hope their favorite childhood memories involve playing outside, not watching tv.

i hope their proudest moment is on the sports field or helping others, not beating a video game.

i hope that they grow up to respect their elders and their peers.

i hope that they'll be willing to try and learn new things.

i hope they have a geniune desire to help others.

i hope that they'll never lose their sense of wonder and amazement.

and i hope that they'll remember me as old fashioined.  =)

I agree with you 100% I also think that when you have company at your house you shouldn't spend the whole time on your cell phone or your computer. Unless your doing something together on the computer.

The only down side is i am tv junkie its on alot mostly for back ground noise. but i have alot of hobbie's too haha if you can't tell.
