It is amazing as to how much things can change in just 2 years time.
2 years ago, I used to work in downtown Chicago, so I used to have to take a Metra to get out there. The station close to home was decent. I mean, the area wasn't the best at night, but when i would be there at 7 am to go to work, I felt safe and okay.
But this morning, I took my SO to that same station so he can handle some work things downtown, and when I pulled up to the convenience store across the street I was sad.
Sad to see what I thought I only would see in the worse parts of the city, like Englewood or in the low lows. About 4 young men standing on the side of the store. The only reason why I know why they were there was because when I ran into the store, they approached my man to ask if he wanted to buy, um... yeah. Sucks.
I had never seen that in the whole time I had taken the train, but driving through that town, I could see it went to shit.
To make matters worse, there was a police officer, in uniform, in the parking lot at the time. *smh* So sad.
