Recently I made a sling for my best friend, who had a baby recently. I LOVED my hotsling and my lucky baby sling when my little one was smaller. I wanted her to have the same experience! She has gotten and 8 in 1 carrier at her baby shower, and she asked me if I could help her figure it out. When we got the baby in it, she just SCREAMED! And the darn thing was so complicated and looked so uncomfortable to wear. She breastfeeds also, so a sling would help her carry the baby (who is already clung to mommy almost all day!) and get housework and other stuff done. After I made the first one (which was WAY too big!!) I realized how easy it was!!! I made another (which turned out to be the right size, and worked perfectly!) and another!!! I really think that I want to keep making them, and try to sell them. I have a couple ideas on places that I could sell them, but they are not year round. I looked online, and there are already a lot of places selling baby carring slings, or moby wraps. But maybe with competitive prices, it might take off! There is also the cost of starting a business/hobby like this. Fabric and thread are not expensive, but they are not cheap either! What do you think? And please let me know if you are interested in a homemade sling!
Comments:
There is a lot of competition for slings already, so I don't know. It may work if you make an update to the normal sling though. Like use special prints, special fabrics, or maybe add some accessory to it .
Thank you both for your advice!!! I was JUST thinking about how to make my slings special, and I had a REALLY good idea. I do not want to share it though, lol, for fear of my idea being stolen! ![]()
