I can't believe my 19 month old can use the potty.  In the last few weeks she has said "pee" and knew that she had to and wanted to go on the potty!  I didn't know they could know what the feeling was at such a young age.  AFter a bath she even got a toy cup and said pee and put it between her legs and pee'd!!!!  This is unheard of for me, my other two kids didnt potty train til 3!!

Any good ideas for potty training this young??  She seems to know about #1 but #2 might be a total different story, not sure.  Looking for some good ideas but I'll try to keep up her interest in the potty...Thanks,

Kelly

I'd say just go with it. She might surprise you. My oldest was potty broke during the day at 22 monhts old.

Jul. 19, 2009 at 9:22 PM I don't remember where I read it, but the Montessori philosophy is that the perfect age to potty train is around 18 months. I just start reminding her to go, setting her on the potty every so often, all that good stuff. Maybe read her a book when she's on it. Keep a close watch for signs she's getting ready to go (the squirming, wiggling, grabbing, etc.) over the next few weeks. I'd probably also give cloth training pants a try. It used to be common practice (before disposables?), so it can be done (I couldn't do it). Good luck.
