I've had to wear glasses since I was very young in grade school. When I was 14 my parents let me get contacts and I've never looked back. I have such bad vision (-10.50 nearsighted) that I could never go to glasses, they are so ugly with the magnification making my eyes look so small and with virtually no peripheral vision. I do have a pair so I can take out my lenses at night and see my way to bed lol but I would never wear them out unless I had no choice. Good thing I havent had any problems with my lenses in a long long time. It's even hard to find a manufacturer that makes my strength. I want to get lasik done but since my eyes are so bad, I would def have to go for a consultation to make sure it was okay...I'm thinking of going sometime this year maybe. Without glasses or contacts I would be considered legally blind. Not so fun without my contacts or glasses, can't even see details of someones face, everything is big blurry blobs lol!!
I'm worried that my kids will get my bad eyes and when my 19mo old went to childrens (CHOP) for a blocked tear duct the dr did say she had my terrible near sightedness, which is not good news. At least we will know early for her so we can get her glasses. My oldest's eyes are fine but havent tested my son yet...My husband wears a light prescription so hopefully my son got his good genes!!
Well if I could get the lasik done, I would even do it if I had to wear glasses afterwards because they would not be anywhere near as bad as I have now, and I think alot of times glasses look pretty good on a person.
