About 2 years ago, we were all outside playing when Haley started screaming in pain, grabbed her stomach and fell to the ground. I scooped her up and brought her to the ER, they diagnosed her with a badder infection and we brought her home. After some time of giving her the medicines, it didn't help any. I brought Haley to the family doctor and she took Xrays of haleys stomach and said she was constipated. So, yet again I'd give her the medicines and they didn't work. At that point Haley was getting worse and fast, she thew up feeces in the living room, she just stayed in bed, wouldn't eat, lost control of going to the bathroom ect. I repeatedly took her to the ER and the family doctor for quite sometime. Finally we went into the doctors..thinking it'd probably be another Xray, that day changed haley's life and our lives forever. Dr. Matthews came in and told me that she was testing Haley for Colorectal Cancer. The rest results took 2 weeks to come back, I was horrified, prayed like crazy and cried all day long. Although, Haley didn't have colorectal cancer in the end..it still changed us as a family alot.
Haley continued to get worse by the day, I was lost and I didn't know who to go to for help. I prayed and prayed for a miracle. In April, it came..although it was scary to go through it was a blessing in disguise. I was up waiting for her bus, everything seemed like it was just going to be a regular day...until kids started running off the bus saying "there's something wrong with Haley, you have to hurry and get her". I didn't understand what they were talking about, but I ran to the bus. As I stood at the bottom the bus driver handed my baby girl to me past out and gurggling. I swear my heart skipped a beat, I held on to her running to the nearest neighbors house. I called her father and told him he had to hurry home, there was something seriously wrong with haley.
We brought haley to the ER, mind you she's past out and gurggling. After waiting in the ER waiting room for nearly 5 HOURS, they put us in the hallway for her to be examined. They took her temp, wieght, took a urine test and blood test. What happened next completely horrified me. They came back and told me her urine test was fine but, her white blood cells were to high and that she has an infection somewhere and to FOLLOW UP with our family doctor!!! They sent me home that night with my child that was past out, gurggling, wouldn't respond to anything. The next morning I woke up with Haley next to me, I was much to afried of leaving her alone in her room. I shoke my daughter, I yelled in her ear, all the sounds she was making terrified me even more. I got NO response out of her, I grabbed her and RAN to the car. I drove as fast as I could to the ER yet again...
When we reached the ER I didn't even give the security guard enough time to tell me to come in, I just grabbed her and ran in the doors. I demanded that my daughter get in there NOW. they put is in a room and the doctor was in there before long. Mind you, I'm already FERIOUS as it is. The doctor came in and examined my Haley Bug and asked me " Why did you bring haley here to the ER, if this has been happening for 2 years" I got pissed off more at that point and said " oh I'm sorry, I thought you were a doctor and I thought I was sitting in a damn hospital, sorry to have bothered you" we argued for sometime and finally I looked at her and said " listen lady, Your going to run more tests on my daughter, I AM NOT bringing her home to die...I don't care what tests you do I will NOT bring her home." Which may seem horrible of me, but you have to understand I was upset that NO ONE would help my daughter. They finally took the MRI and came back and said Haley was in the begining stages of appendicitus and needed surgery asap. I signed the constent forms and Haley was rushed to the OR.
Haley's surgery lasted 2 hours and I couldn't think of anything but her laugh and smile that I hadn't seen in soooo long. After her surgery while she was in the recovery, the surgon came in and said that Haley was very close to death, and that he caught it just in time. Over the past 2 years Haley's appendix had grown nearly double it's size and had attached itself to her abdominal wall. Her appendix had eventually ruptured, another couple hours she would have died.

Haley is well now, being her normal self again. I thank God everyday for allowing me to continue seeing my baby smile, feeling her hugs and just seeing her grow. If I hadn't fought that day, my daughter would have died.

If you ever find yourself in this situation Please...

1. Find a doctor that YOU trust and listens to YOUR concerns.
2. EDUCATE yourself on every possiblility, ask questions
3. Do NOT be afried to push your doctor into getting things done
4. DEMAND what you want done
5. last but no least...Stay strong for you little one, they need you in this time. AND FIGHT LIKE HELL!
