The other morning, a drowsy, un-bespecticalled 9 year old Alexis woke to find a startling surprise in the hallway outside of her bedroom. She was near hysterics as she reached through the hall to pound on her big sister, Dylan's door, screaming, "Help! There is a real, live, hissing snake right there!" Jumping from her bed after such a rousing cry, Dylan, also sans-glasses, looked and then joined her voice to her sister's in an empassioned cry to their big brother, RC, entreating him to save them from the snake in the hallway. Of course, this cacophony caused curiosity and concern within Sarah, who then crawled (she did not yet have on her braces, and her crutches were not nearby) into the hallway in question. Her sisters were near tears, screaming to Sarah to get away before she was bitten, their own terror freezing them in their prospective doorways. Ignoring these entreaties, however, Sarah instead put her head closer to the ground, closely observing this interloper, before she announced to her myopic sisters, "It is a rope." Apparently, the knot at the end made it a convincing serpent to girls with active imaginations who were not wearing their glasses. Incidently, RC managed to sleep through the whole thing.
