I am getting a little sick and tired of the quote "If an animal is going to die they are going to die. There is nothing you can do about it".

People have used that on me and then made it sound ok when they told me "Well I grew up on a farm." Well what about me? So what if I grew up in the city and visited my aunt on her farm. She was a vet assistant and she taught me how to protect and save animals. And how to take care of them. People bring their animals to me a lot.

When Buyou was losing his fir and was just not himself. My husbands cousin told me I should put him down and keep him from suffering. Ummmm no jerk. I took him to the vet and found out it was just mange. I had to shell out 400 dollars but I worked some extra hours so he could heal.

My cat Cali was taken to the vet and taken care of for 17 years. She was in for colds, hip problems, and more but I took her in. And she lived a very very long life.

Ricky my newest edition has been to the vet and came out with a clean bill of health recently. When I got him he had ring worm, malnourished, losing fir, and he had diarrhea but I bet he was poisoned along with his litter. When I got him home I had to wash him off from all the poop on his fir and urine stench, put him immediately on organic whole milk with karo syrup, and for a few days he wasn't playful but then he bounced back.

For two months he has moved from milk to this awesome cat food called NaturalLife. He is getting big and likes to attack us. Many people told me that since he was a runt he isn't going to live. My husbands family even suggested putting him out of his misery because of how sickly he looked. But now he is a spunky little brat who is spoiled. The ringworm is gone, the fir is back, his weight is up, and his sickly look is gone.

If you get an animal do not make excuses for not taking care of them. They deserve to see a vet like your children deserve to see a doctor. I am lucky that I have connections to medication and vaccinations for my animals. I give them all their shots and watch their diets. I swear the vet that takes care of my animals treats my animals better than my son's pediatrician treats him.

And I don't always give my animals medication... I even found sites that help me with simple herbal remedies when it isn't a dire situation. I research everything when my animals are having issues. You have options just check it out online. There is no excuse to let an animal die of something preventable.

You're awesome!  We have a 13 yr old dog that we adopted last Memorial day the vet had given him 4 months and told us we should maybe consider putting him down.  He is such an awesome dog and after some extensive vet bills he is happy and as healthy as he can be after the life he has had.  He's still going strong.  We did just have to put our cat down though we did everything we possibly could.  It was hard!!

The world needs more people like you and me mama!!

Thank you and you rockby the way.

My cat Cali had kidney failure and died last year. We took her in and even watched her diet. The Vet told me that it sneaks up on you and there is no real way to keep it from happening to older cats. My vet was surprised she made it to 17. I miss her every day.

man ringworm blows. and spreads like wildfire. I worked as a manager of a cat sanctuary when I was in college and holy crap did that suck. Thankfully I never got it. It is SO hard to keep contained. and there is nothing as joyful as giving a ct a ringworm bath. Way to go :D

bow down @ Sugarmagnolia

I don't know if I had the courage to work at a sanctuary. I will say that giving the kitten a bath all the time was oodles of fun. liar
