Beginning Teaching Career

    It is phenomenal the amount of items a new teacher needs and the schools don't supplythem all. It also amazes me that you have to beg or borrow to get anything when you first start. The schools normally give about 100 for you to equip your classroom. However, that's just not enough. I mean I have to have supplies for myself, and the kids who forget or cannot afford. Then there are the books, paper, and other items for creating activities and lessons. I think a teacher may spend 1000.00 her first year very easily. Yet, the federal government only allows for a 250.00 tax deduction for teachers room supplies. I know I will be okay teaching in this job and things will fall into place. It would just be nice for things to be supplied better.

I don't understand; we can build new building, baseball arenas, pay big money to Hollywood and sports but nooooooo money for our children! Sounds like someone has the priorities in this life all screwed up!
