I am prejudiced against raciest. I fully admit it.
I went over for a girls night tonight. (my in laws are in town so I was double booked)
When it hit 9:45 the host is chatting with us all. She was telling us about her new boyfriend and telling him why our town was better than his.
She says:
We suddenly look up and the place is full of black kids. The [city] kids had been bussed over for a day at the bowling ally.
I told him that is why he needs to live here. It is cheaper and there not so many black kids. Those kids are so rude!
I then turned around and tossed my homemade guacamole in the trash. I was trying to decide what to say and how to say it. Another woman in the group said, "Well that isn't because they are black."
I said, "I prefer my kids to go to school with minorities. Sorry to interrupted but I need to go. Anyone want to watch me walk to my car?"
The whole party left with me.

Ha!! I can just see her standing there after you all left, going "Gee, was it something I said?" Good for you, that is awesome that they all came with you!!!

I take great solace in the fact that everyone left after that stunning display of intolerance. There are more good apples than bad after all.
You are an awesome leader! Not suprised. While at my brother-in-law's for Thanksgiving several yrs ago, he said right in front of our little girls "No daughter of mine will ever marry a black man." I got up from the table and said "I would much rather my daughter marry a black man than a bigot." Not sure he got it.
It's amazing that she didn't even think twice about what was coming out of her mouth. Wow!
Good for you for leaving... and taking everyone with you!!

I thought they covered topics like that in the aol.com "10 things not to say as a host" piece. Sad.
